Abstract
Overview
ISO 5545:2008 (also referred to as IDF 90:2008) specifies the reference method for the determination of ash content in rennet caseins and caseinates, except ammonium caseinate. Developed jointly by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Dairy Federation (IDF), this standard provides a reliable and internationally harmonized procedure to measure the inorganic residue (ash) remaining after incinerating dairy protein products. By standardizing the method, ISO 5545:2008 ensures consistency, repeatability, and accuracy in analytical testing, which is critical for quality control and regulatory compliance in dairy processing and trade.
