ISO 5674:2024

Overview

ISO 5674:2024 specifies strength and wear tests and acceptance criteria for guards used on power take-off (PTO) drive-shafts on tractors and agricultural and forestry machinery. Intended to be used in combination with ISO 5673-1:2005, the standard defines test methods, required test equipment, environmental conditions and final acceptance criteria for PTO drive-shaft guards and their restraining means. It excludes guards designed and constructed to be used as steps and does not apply retroactively to guards manufactured before publication.

• Measuring accuracy (examples from Table 1): rotational speed ±0.5 %, temperature ±1.0 °C, time ±0.2 %, length ±0.5 %, force ±1.0 % (with the document’s specified tolerance allowances).
• Equipment: Test rigs must hold and rotate PTO shafts at the specified speeds, apply controlled loads at defined temperatures and permit realistic mounting and restraining consistent with ISO 500-1:2014.
