A sample of about 10 g is weighed to the nearest 0.01 g, placed in an oven controlled at 103 2 °C, cooled in a desiccator and weighed again. The operations are repeated until the difference in mass between two successive weighings is less than 0.01 g.
Abstract
Overview
ISO 672:1978 specifies a standardized oven method for determining the moisture and volatile matter content in commercial soaps. This international standard, developed by ISO Technical Committee ISO/TC 91 (Surface active agents), offers a reliable procedure to assess the water and volatile substances in soap samples, ensuring quality control and compliance with industry requirements. The method involves drying soap samples at a controlled temperature and measuring weight loss until constant mass is achieved.
