Establishes a system for the transliteration and/or transcription of Greek characters into Latin characters. This system applies to the characters of the Greek script, independent of the period in which it is or was used, i.e. scripts from all periods of Classic or Modern Greek. Replaces ISO/R 843.

Overview
ISO 843:1997 - Information and documentation - Conversion of Greek characters into Latin characters - defines a standardized system for converting Greek script into Latin script. The standard specifies two distinct conversion : for reversible character-to-character mapping, and for representing pronunciation. It applies to the full range of Greek writing (monotoniko and polytoniko) across historical periods, and it replaces the earlier ISO/R 843.
