Overview
ISO 8503-1:2012 defines specifications and definitions for ISO surface profile comparators used to assess the surface roughness of blast-cleaned steel substrates. The standard covers the design, marking, calibration and care of planar comparators that represent reference profiles for surfaces cleaned with shot or grit abrasives. ISO 8503-1 is intended for on-site, visual and tactile comparison of abrasive blast-cleaned surfaces before the application of paints and related protective coatings.
