Overview
ISO 8989:1995 specifies a laboratory method to determine the water miscibility of liquid phenolic resins. The standard defines how much water can be mixed into a liquid phenolic (phenoplast) resin before persistent turbidity occurs. The test is performed at a controlled temperature of 23 °C ± 0.1 °C and uses grade 3 water as defined in ISO 3696. This second edition (1995) replaces the 1988 edition and updates the test to use grade 3 water instead of distilled water.
