This document specifies methods for calibration of pyrheliometers using reference pyrheliometers and specifies the calibration procedures for the transfer of the calibration. This document is applicable for use by calibration service providers and test laboratories to enable a uniform quality of accurate calibration sensitivities to be achieved.

ISO 9059:2025 - "Solar energy - Calibration of pyrheliometers by comparison to a reference pyrheliometer" specifies standardized methods for calibrating pyrheliometers (instruments that measure direct solar irradiance in W·m‑2) by comparison to a reference pyrheliometer. It is intended for calibration service providers and test laboratories to ensure uniform, traceable, high‑accuracy calibration sensitivities. The standard aligns calibration results with the SI through traceability to the World Radiometric Reference (WRR) and references for instrument classification.
