Overview
ISO/IEC 15420:2009 - Information technology - Automatic identification and data capture techniques - EAN/UPC bar code symbology specification - is the international symbology specification for the widely used EAN/UPC barcode family. The standard defines the visual and machine-readable characteristics of EAN-13, UPC-A, UPC-E and EAN-8 symbols, including encoding rules, dimensions, tolerances and a reference decoding algorithm. Note: data content and business rules (e.g., assignment of GTINs) are outside this standard and are covered by the GS1 General Specifications.
