Abstract
What is BS EN 60754-1 – Halogen acid gas content about?
BS EN 60754-1 is an international standard that discusses the determination of the halogen acid gas content for Tests on gases evolved during the combustion of materials from cables. Halogen acid gases are toxic irritants that react with hydrogen to form hydrogen halides (HF, HCl, HBr, etc.) and with water to form acids. BS EN 60754-1 specifies the apparatus and procedure for the determination of the amount of halogen acid gas, other than hydrofluoric acid, evolved during the combustion of compounds based on halogenated polymers and compounds containing halogenated additives taken from electric or optical fibre cable constructions. BS EN 60754-1 is intended for the testing of individual components used in cable construction. The use of this method wil...
