IEC 62097:2009 is applicable to the assessment of the efficiency and performance of prototype hydraulic machine from model test results, with consideration of scale effect including the effect of surface roughness. This document is intended to be used for the assessment of the results of contractual model tests of hydraulic machines.

Overview
IEC 62097:2009 is an international standard developed by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) that specifies the performance conversion method for hydraulic machines, both radial and axial, from model tests to prototype conditions. This standard addresses the critical challenge of accurately assessing the efficiency and operational performance of full-scale hydraulic machines based on scaled model test results. It particularly accounts for scale effects, including those arising from surface roughness differences between models and prototypes.
