Abstract
Overview
ISO 11463:2020 - Corrosion of metals and alloys - Guidelines for the evaluation of pitting corrosion provides practical guidance for selecting procedures to identify, examine and evaluate corrosion pits and pit growth rate. The standard covers visual and microscopic examination, in situ non‑destructive inspection (NDT) and ex‑situ surface analysis methods to quantify pit size, shape, depth and extent. It is intended to support assessment of remaining life, material selection and failure analysis where pitting corrosion is a concern.
