ISO 11592-2:2021 - "Small craft - Determination of maximum propulsion power rating using manoeuvring speed - Part 2" defines test methods and requirements to determine the maximum propulsion power rating for engine‑driven small craft with a hull length (LH) between 8 m and 24 m. The standard applies to craft with a calculated Froude number (Fn) ≥ 1.1 and sets out test procedures, documentation and labelling intended to ensure safe manoeuvring at declared speeds. It excludes inflatable craft, racing craft and craft not primarily designed to be engine driven.

Test methods
- Two principal manoeuvring tests: Quick turn test and Avoidance line test.
- Tests determine the maximum manoeuvring speed at which the craft maintains control.
Quick turn test
- From straight ahead, turn steering wheel 180° (or limit) within 0.5 s and hold; craft must complete a 90° turn without loss of control. Tests repeated port and starboard.
Avoidance line test
- Approach an avoidance line and execute turns without reducing speed or crossing the line. Pass requires three consecutive successful turns each side.
- Initiation distance D:
  - For V ≤ 30 knots: D = 6 × LH
  - For V > 30 knots: D = 6 × LH + (0.1 × LH + 1.2) × (V − 30)
