ISO 18616-2:2016 specifies the test methods for handling and managing reusable, rigid plastic distribution boxes. These boxes are based on the modular area 600 mm × 400 mm, 600 mm × 500 mm, 550 mm × 366 mm and subdivisions of them. Internal test load typically uses fabric/plastic bags with 500 g of plastic granules (type A) or steel balls (type B) occupying > 80% of capacity.

Drop tests: Two sequences - cold-conditioned drop (−18 °C then drop 0.75 m) and ambient drop (23 °C drop 2.0 m), multiple impact orientations - per ISO 2248.
Base deflection test: Measure maximum base deflection with 10%/100%/10% load sequence.
