Overview
ISO 24835-1:2025 specifies a standardized X‑ray diffraction (XRD) method for determining shale mineral composition and calculating the shale mineral brittleness index. The standard defines principles, instruments, materials, sampling and sample‑preparation procedures, XRD testing and data processing (including reference intensity testing), calculation algorithms and precision requirements. It is intended for reservoir quality evaluation and sweet spot identification in shale gas upstream operations.
