ISO 3452-3:2013 describes two types of reference blocks: Type 1 reference blocks are used to determine the sensitivity levels of both fluorescent and colour contrast penetrant product families; Type 2 reference blocks are used for routine assessment of the performance of both fluorescent and colour contrast penetrant testing. Defect sizes and surface roughness are verified using optical methods and accompanied by certificates confirming measurement accuracy.

Identification and Certification

Each block is marked with ISO 3452-3, supplier identification, and a unique serial number.
Supplied with a Type 3.1 certificate (ISO 10474 / EN 10204) attesting conformance to dimensional and material specifications.
