The second edition (1996) replaces the 1977 edition and extends the standard to include unrestrained reach tables. It specifies reach boundaries that represent the proportions of male/female driver populations (50/50, 75/25, 90/10) and is intended primarily for the initial design stages of a new vehicle programme and for early prototype checking.
