ISO 4344:2022 specifies minimum requirements for the manufacture and testing of stranded carbon steel wire ropes for lifts. It covers bright and galvanized wire finishes in common rope constructions with diameters from 6 mm to 38 mm. The standard applies to ropes used for suspension duty on traction-drive and roped-hydraulic lifts and for compensation and governor duties on passenger, freight, service and man lifts that run between guides.
