This document gives guidance on the determination of dynamic properties of vulcanized and thermoplastic rubbers. It includes both free- and forced-vibration methods carried out on both materials and products. It does not cover rebound resilience or cyclic tests in which the main objective is to fatigue the rubber.

ISO 4664-1:2022 - "Rubber, vulcanized or thermoplastic - Determination of dynamic properties - Part 1: General guidance" provides structured guidance for measuring the of vulcanized and thermoplastic rubbers. The standard covers both and methods applied to materials and finished products, explains viscoelastic concepts, and sets out the key parameters and conditioning procedures required for reliable dynamic testing. It explicitly excludes rebound resilience tests and cyclic tests whose primary objective is fatigue.
