Overview
ISO 5184:1979 defines requirements for straight resistance spot welding electrodes, focusing on physical dimensions, tolerances, designation, material selection and marking. The standard applies only to straight electrodes used for spot welding when the electrode force does not exceed the specified Fmax for the electrode diameter (d1) and when the electrode centre lines are perpendicular to the workpiece. ISO 5184 replaces earlier ISO/R recommendations and supports consistent production and safe use of spot welding electrodes.
