Specifies the maximum chamfer dimensions of metric series rolling bearings, for which boundary dimensions, including chamfer minimum dimensions, are given in other International Standards. Does not apply to chamfers, for which dimensions are not specified, or for which other dimensions are specified in other International Standards.

ISO 582:1995 - Rolling bearings - Chamfer dimensions - Maximum values specifies maximum chamfer (rounded corner) dimensions for metric series rolling bearings and the corresponding limits for shaft and housing filet radii. This third edition cancels and replaces ISO 582:1979 and is intended to ensure interchangeability and reduce risk of interference between bearings and mating parts by standardizing maximum chamfer values where boundary (including chamfer minimum) dimensions are given in other ISO bearing standards.

Shaft and housing filet radii: Specifies that the maximum allowed radius of shaft/housing fillets must not exceed the smallest isolated chamfer dimension of the corresponding bearing (i.e., the shaft/housing filet radius r_max ≤ the bearing’s minimum isolated chamfer r_min).

Shape flexibility: The exact profile of the chamfer surface is not rigidly fixed; however, its axial trace must lie within an imaginary circular arc tangent to the face and to the bore or external cylindrical surface, as illustrated in the standard.

Figures and tabulated data: Includes an explanatory figure and tabulated nominal dimensions for multiple bearing categories (radial bearings, tapered-roller bearings, thrust washers, etc.).
