ISO 8855:2011 defines the principal terms used for road vehicle dynamics. The terms apply to passenger cars, buses and commercial vehicles with one or more steered axles, and to multi-unit vehicle combinations.

ISO 8855:2011 - Road vehicles: Vehicle dynamics and road‑holding ability - Vocabulary provides a standardized vocabulary of principal terms used in vehicle dynamics. The second edition (2011) updates and harmonizes earlier terminology (ISO 8855:1991) with comparable guidance such as , and extends scope to cover tyre/wheel axis systems, inclined or non‑uniform road surfaces, multi‑unit vehicle combinations, and four‑wheel steer geometries. The vocabulary applies to passenger cars, buses and commercial vehicles with one or more steered axles.
