ISO 9658:2024 specifies a flame atomic absorption spectrometric (FAAS) method for determining acid‑soluble and/or total aluminium in non‑alloyed steel. The procedure applies to aluminium contents from 0.005 % to 0.20 % (mass fraction). The standard describes sample preparation, required reagents and apparatus, instrument performance criteria, calibration and calculation of results, and reporting requirements.
