Overview - ISO/IEC 19566-8:2023 (JPEG Snack)
ISO/IEC 19566-8:2023, titled Information technologies - JPEG systems - Part 8: JPEG Snack, defines a metadata and container framework-called -that enriches image-based multimedia representations to facilitate sharing, editing, and presentation. The standard targets short-form, image-rich “snack culture” experiences (image sequences, short-duration frames, transitions, captions, audio/video clips) and enables these to be described, stored, and rendered while remaining fundamentally image-centric (i.e., without forcing images to be transcoded into video codecs).
