Abstract
Overview
ISO/IEC 21836:2020 - "Information technology - Data centres - Server energy effectiveness metric" defines a standardized measurement method to assess and report the energy effectiveness of computer servers. Prepared by ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 39 (Sustainability, IT & Data Centres), the standard establishes the Server Energy Effectiveness Metric (SEEM). It relies on the widely adopted SPEC SERT™ (SERTv2) test suite where applicable and provides requirements for alternate when SERT is not suitable. ISO/IEC 21836:2020 is a testing and reporting standard; it does set pass/fail thresholds for servers.
