ISO/TR 16314:2010 provides a method for the selective determination of polyaromaticity of oil in reclaimed rubbers. The method is based on nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectrometry.

Overview
ISO/TR 16314:2010 - Rubber - Measurement of the aromaticity of oil in reclaimed rubbers - specifies a selective, NMR‑based method to assess the polyaromaticity of oils present in reclaimed rubber. The Technical Report uses 1H nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectrometry to quantify bay‑region hydrogens that are characteristic of multi‑ring polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). The measured % bay‑region hydrogens provides an indicator of aromaticity in extracted oil fractions from reclaimed rubbers.
