What is PAS 8850 about?

PAS 8850 specifies performance requirements for heated tobacco products and tobacco heating devices. PAS 8850 sets a baseline for the tobacco, additives, and materials used in the manufacture of heated tobacco product; conformity of electronic components to relevant safety standards; manufacturing and product traceability; heated tobacco product stability; chemical analyses of tobacco attributes; and heated tobacco product emissions and their consistency to verify the absence of combustion and to enable heated tobacco products to be differentiated from combustible tobacco products such as cigarettes. NOTE: PAS 8850 does not cover: non-tobacco containing e-cigarette products within the scope of PAS 54115 , carbon-heated tobacco products, or other types of heated tobacco products with non-electrical heating devices, and water pipes such as shisha and nargil.
