What is ISO/TS 21177 - ITS station security services about?

Intelligent Transport System (ITS) aims to achieve traffic efficiency by minimizing traffic problems.  ISO/TS 21177 contains specifications for a set of ITS station security services required to ensure the authenticity of the source and integrity of information exchanged between trusted entities. ISO/TS 21177 specifies ITS station security services for enabling trust between ITS-Station application processes running on different ITS Station Communication Units (ITS_SCUs) of the same ITS station communication, i.e. establishing a trusted processing platform, considering also trust inside an ITS-SCU protection of applications from the actions of other applications, protection of shared information, and protection of shared processing resources such as communications software and hardware, which includes methods of prioritisation and restricted access. These ITS station security services are essential for many intelligent transport system applications and services including time-critical safety applications, automated driving, remote management of intelligent transport system stations, and roadside and infrastructure related services.
