EN ISO 17831-1:2025 (ISO 17831‑1:2025) is the CEN-adopted international standard that specifies a laboratory method for determining the mechanical durability of pellets - a key quality attribute of solid biofuels. Mechanical durability quantifies a pellet’s resistance to shocks and abrasion arising from handling and transport by measuring the proportion of material remaining after a controlled tumbling and sieving procedure.
