Compound terms & names: Components of compound words are abbreviated (hyphens retained). Personal names are not abbreviated; adjectival forms derived from names may be shortened. Corporate bodies may be abbreviated or represented by commonly used acronyms.

Special characters: Most special characters are retained; the ampersand (&) and plus (+) are omitted when used as “and” (unless integral to an acronym).
