Nominal diameters: Standard nominal lead diameters include 0.35, 0.5, 0.7, 1 and 2 mm (with notes on 0.3/0.35 and 0.9/1 compatibility).
Guide pipe dimensions:
- Minimum guide‑pipe length: 3 mm
- Specified internal bore tolerances tied to nominal diameter (values provided in the standard)
- Outer guide‑pipe diameters for template slot compatibility: 0.84, 0.95, 1.12, 1.30 mm for the respective nominal diameters
Performance requirements:
- Push‑type (F and L): Under a defined vertical compressive load the lead must neither retract into the guide pipe nor slide through the chuck (test loads: 5 N for 0.35 mm, 8 N for 0.5 mm and above).
- Screw‑type (S): Lead retraction limited to ≤ 0.7 mm under specified test conditions (vertical compressive load 4 N during test sequence).
