Overview
EN ISO 1463:2021 - "Metallic and oxide coatings - Measurement of coating thickness - Microscopical method" (ISO 1463:2021) specifies a standardized microscopical procedure to measure the local thickness of metallic coatings, oxide layers and porcelain/vitreous enamel coatings. The method is based on optical microscope examination of prepared cross-sections (cut, mounted, ground, polished and, where needed, etched) and applies to quality control, inspection and laboratory testing of coated components. This edition (2021) supersedes EN ISO 1463:2004 and adds support for digital image processing for light microscopes.
