Overview

EN ISO 19085-4:2024 - published by CEN - is the safety standard for vertical panel circular sawing machines used in continuous production. It defines safety requirements and measures for manually loaded and unloaded machines (hand feed or integrated feed) and covers operation, adjustment and maintenance under intended and reasonably foreseeable misuse. The standard also addresses transport, assembly, dismantling, disabling and scrapping phases and applies to machines fitted with common additional units (scoring, angle cutting, integrated feed, grooving with cutter ≤ 27 mm, panel pushers, supports, etc.).

Key materials in scope include solid wood, wood-like materials (see ISO 19085-1:2021), composite panels, polymer-matrix composites, gypsum boards, honeycomb aluminium and similar engineered boards.
