Calibration and procedure: Pycnometer calibration is mandatory (Annex A gives an example). Procedure details include conditioning, weighing empty and filled pycnometer, and careful wiping of excess liquid to avoid weighing errors.

Precision: The standard includes provisions for repeatability and reproducibility limits and requires reporting of test conditions and results.
