EN ISO 4531:2022 - "Vitreous and porcelain enamels - Release from enamelled articles in contact with food - Methods of test and limits" is a CEN‑adopted ISO standard that defines a simulated test method and specifies limits for the release of metal ions from enamelled surfaces intended to contact food. It applies to enamelled articles including cookware, tanks and vessels used for preparation, cooking, serving and storage of food. The standard supersedes EN ISO 4531:2018 and includes updates such as revised guidance on aluminium release and a testing-timing requirement.
