Overview
EN ISO 8407:2021/A1:2025 is a CEN-endorsed amendment to ISO 8407:2021, the international standard that specifies procedures for the removal of corrosion products from corrosion test specimens. This Amendment 1 (approved February 2025 and published March–May 2025) makes targeted changes to informative material (Table A.1) used by corrosion testing laboratories and materials engineers to ensure consistent, reproducible cleaning of test samples prior to analysis.

- The standard continues to address methods for cleaning and preparing corrosion test specimens so that measurements (for example mass loss or surface analysis) are accurate and comparable.
- Amendment 1 specific changes (ISO 8407:2021/Amd 1:2025):
- In Table A.1, the reagent name "sulfonic acid" is replaced with "sulfamic acid".
- A table layout change: a blank line between entries C.7.7 and C.7.8 is deleted so that C.7.8 and C.7.9 are included with the stainless steels entries.
- The document is produced under ISO/TC 156 (Corrosion of metals and alloys) in collaboration with CEN/TC 262, and is to be adopted as a national standard in CEN member countries by September 2025.
