Overview
IEC 62196-1:2014 is an international standard developed by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) that specifies the general requirements for plugs, socket-outlets, vehicle connectors, and vehicle inlets used in the conductive charging of electric vehicles (EVs). This standard covers accessories intended for use in conductive charging systems with control functions and rated operating voltages up to 690 V AC (50-60 Hz) at currents not exceeding 250 A, and up to 1500 V DC at currents up to 400 A.
