This document specifies the procedure for evaluating the accuracy of quartz watches, individually and by lots (see Annex A which presents the methods for statistical evaluation of accuracy by lot), and the relationship between the accuracy tested and the accuracy classification given by the manufacturer. It applies to quartz watches having accompanying documents on which the accuracy classification is indicated.

Calculations: The standard defines methods and formulas to compute ageing coefficients (α and c), annual variation V due to ageing, seasonal variation due to temperature, and conversion to monthly/annual rates. Annex B provides guidance on evaluating α and c from measured rate differences.

Uncertainty and reliability: Criteria for measurement uncertainty and informative guidance on reliability are included (Clause 7.4, Annex C).

Statistical lot evaluation: Annex A describes normative statistical methods for assessing accuracy across lots, using statistical tolerance intervals consistent with ISO 16269‑6.
