Abstract
Overview
ISO 1069:1973 - "Magnetic compasses and binnacles for sea navigation - Vocabulary" is an International Standard that provides the authoritative bilingual (English/French) terminology for magnetic compasses, binnacles and related magnetic concepts used in marine navigation. Published in 1973 (first edition, 36 pages), it replaces ISO Recommendation R 1069‑1969 and was prepared by ISO Technical Committee TC 8 (Shipbuilding). An annex supplies equivalent terms in eight additional languages (published under the responsibility of the respective ISO member bodies).
