ISO 11435:2011 specifies an inductively coupled plasma/atomic emission spectrometric method for the determination of the mass fraction of molybdenum between 0,05 % and 20 % in nickel alloys.
Abstract
Overview
ISO 11435:2011 specifies a validated analytical method for the determination of molybdenum (Mo) mass fraction in nickel alloys using inductively coupled plasma / atomic emission spectrometry (ICP‑AES). The method covers molybdenum concentrations from 0.05 % to 20 % (mass fraction) and describes sample dissolution, instrument performance checks, matrix‑matched calibration and result calculation to ensure accurate, traceable measurements.
Key topics and technical requirements
- Scope and range: determination of Mo in nickel alloys between 0.05 % and 20 %.
- Sample preparation: dissolution in a mixture of HCl, HNO3 and H3PO4, fuming with HClO4, with HF added where needed to dissolve residues; use of PTFE/PFA vessels and class A volumetric glassware.
- ICP‑AES instrumentation: ICP with HF‑resistant nebulizer; either simultaneous or sequential spectrometers are allowed (sequential instruments must meet bandwidth and timing criteria for internal standard use).
- Performance criteria:
- Spectral bandwidth (FWHM)
