This second edition (2023) updates the procedures for cyclic endurance (fatigue) testing and static burst testing used to demonstrate that production housings meet declared pressure-life ratings.

Instrument accuracy and tolerances are defined (pressure, temperature, cycle rate).
Procedure controls include specified torque of threaded items, bleeding air, accumulator settings and system relief settings.

Burst test:

Purpose: verify the rated static burst pressure (maximum pressure a randomly selected pressure-containing envelope sustains on first pressure application).
Separate apparatus, conditions, failure criteria and calculation/verification steps are detailed in the standard.

Data presentation and similarity: Guidance on reporting, verification by similarity, and identification statements are included. Normative references include ISO 5598 and ISO/TR 19972-1.
