La présente norme spécifie une méthode générale d'essai commune à tous les articles de literie pour l'estimation de leur allumabilité sous l'action d'une cigarette allumée. L' ISO 12952-2 décrit une méthode d'essai spécifique pour articles de literie qui, en général, peuvent être placés sur un matelas, comme par exemple : housses-de-matelas ; alèses ; draps et molletons d'incontinence ; draps ; couvertures ; couvertures électriques ; dessus-de-lit matelassés (couettes) et couvre lits ; oreillers (quel que soit le rembourrage) et traversins ; taies d'oreillers. Ne sont pas couverts par la présente norme les matelas, les sommiers et les protège-matelas.
