Abstract
Overview
ISO 13232-5:2005/Amd 1:2012 is an amendment to Part 5 of the ISO 13232 series for motorcycles - test and analysis procedures for research evaluation of rider crash protective devices. This amendment integrates ground-impact effects and comprehensive injury cost metrics (including quality-adjusted life costs) into the existing injury indices and risk/benefit analysis framework used in motorcycle crash research and device evaluation.
Key topics and requirements
- Risk/benefit analysis periods
- Primary impact period: up to but not including ground impact, or 0.500 s after first motorcycle/other vehicle (MC/OV) contact, whichever is sooner.
- Entire impact sequence: from first MC/OV contact until at least 1 s and no longer than 3 s after contact - or until the dummy’s head, spine, and pelvis resultant velocities are
