Abstract
Overview
ISO 13900:1997 specifies a standardized analytical procedure for the determination of boron in steel using the curcumin spectrophotometric method after distillation. The method is intended for low-level boron analysis in steel in the range 0.00005 % (m/m) to 0.0010 % (m/m). It describes sample preparation, chemical decomposition, distillation of methylborate, formation of the curcumin–boron complex, spectrophotometric measurement (≈550 nm) and calibration/blank correction procedures.
