ISO 14629:2012 specifies a test method to determine the flowability of granulated or ungranulated ceramic powders by means of a specified funnel. The method is applicable only to powders which flow freely through the specified test orifice.

- Balance (0.1 g or 0.01 g resolution for very fluffy powders), stopwatch (0.1 s), and anti-static glove.
Pre-treatment: Typically test as-received. If drying is required, dry at (110 ± 5) °C for ≥1 h and cool in a desiccator. Do not dry powders with volatile components. Any pre-treatment must be recorded.
Test procedure: Sieve the powder, weigh 50.0 g, place in funnel, unblock orifice while timing flow until last powder exits. If flow fails or is intermittent, record observations.
Calculation: Flowability is mass collected divided by elapsed time (expressed in g/s). Results rounded per ISO 80000-1.
Reporting: Follow ISO/IEC 17025 reporting provisions and include environmental conditions, sample ID, pre-treatments, results (g/s), and any anomalies (e.g., blockage).
