Overview
ISO 16321-2:2021 specifies additional material, design, performance and marking requirements for eye and face protectors used during welding and related techniques. It supplements the general requirements in ISO 16321‑1 and focuses on hazards common to welding: optical radiation (UV, visible, IR), impacts from flying particles, hot solids and thermal exposure. The standard applies to welding helmets, hand shields, goggles, spectacles and associated frames and mountings used in industry, educational establishments and occupational‑type DIY tasks. ISO 16321‑2 is the first edition (2021) and replaces the earlier ISO 4850:1979.
