ISO 17565:2003 describes the method of test for determining the flexural strength of monolithic fine ceramics and whisker- or particulate-reinforced ceramic composites at elevated temperature. Specimen preparation & dimensions: Rectangular beam geometry and surface/chamfer considerations are specified; corrections for chamfer size and thermal expansion are included.

Calculations & statistics: Standard formulas for three- and four-point flexure, corrections (chamfer, thermal), and reporting of mean strength, standard deviation, and Weibull scaling (informative annex).
