Overview
ISO 17830:2024 - "Solid biofuels - Particle size distribution of disintegrated pellets" specifies a laboratory method to determine the particle size distribution of pellets that fully disintegrate in hot water. The standard covers sample preparation, disintegration in deionised hot water, drying and moisture conditioning, mechanical sieving and calculation/reporting requirements. It is intended for pellets made from wood (sawdust, shavings, milled wood), straw and similar feedstocks that break down in water; water-resistant or thermally treated pellets are excluded.
