For stringer-style pallets the distance from a fastener to the board edge should be a multiple of the fastener shank diameter and spacing should follow the standard’s multiple-of-diameter rule.
Riveted fasteners must extend sufficiently beyond the assembled thickness and be clinched to avoid head uplift.

Acceptable defects and limits

Guidance covers handling knots, shakes, resin pockets and through-splits in relation to fastener placement. Protruding fastener heads on exposed surfaces are not acceptable; limited, non-exposed protrusions may be tolerated in small percentages.
