This document specifies the dimensions, characteristics, and positioning of Speed Identification Signs (SIS). These signs indicate the maximum equipment ground speed, based on the ground speed design capability, for agricultural field equipment. This document is applicable to agricultural field equipment moving on public roads.

- Circular sign: 200 mm ± 2 mm diameter, black border 10 mm wide inset up to 5 mm.
- Centre field and outer border: white; numeric speed in black.
- Specified ground speed rounded to nearest 5 (e.g. 40, 45, 50) with units in km/h or mile/h.
- Minimum character sizes: numbers 75 mm high (12 mm stroke); unit letters sized per Table 1.
Materials and performance
- Outdoor durability: test exposure per ISO 2810 (24 months, humid subtropical) with no cracking, blistering or loss of adhesion.
- Adhesive strength: minimum 5,5 N/cm (tested per ISO 29862:2024, Test Method 1); ASTM D3330 and PSTC 101 noted as equivalent references.
- Colour/chromaticity: transilluminated sign chromaticity coordinates specified for consistent white/black appearance under D65 illumination.
Positioning and visibility
- Rear-facing SIS: visible to following road users, mounted upright in a plane perpendicular to travel, ±10° tolerance on y- and z-axis.
- Height: bottom edge 0.6 m to 3.0 m above ground; preferred right-of-centre mounting and unobscured circular shape.
- Forward-facing SIS (optional): 25%–100% of rear sign size (50–200 mm) readable from the towing operator’s platform.
- For towed combinations: only the rearmost SIS needs to be visible from behind; forward SIS on lead implement may inform the towing operator.
Operator information
- Manuals must state that maximum travel speed is the lesser of road limits, vehicle capability, or the specified ground speed of towed equipment.
- Ground speed limitation for combinations equals the lowest specified ground speed in the train.
