Overview
ISO 20706-1:2019 is an international standard for the qualitative identification of selected bast fibres - flax, hemp and ramie - and their blends using microscopy methods. It specifies procedures for both light microscopy (LM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) to determine fibre species in raw materials, yarns, fabrics and finished products. The standard is part of the ISO 20706 series and is intended to support reliable fibre identification for quality control, labelling and forensic purposes.
